Japan’s Lube Production Slips

Finished lubricant production in Japan fell 22%, and domestic lubricant sales declined 13% in March, according to data released Tuesday by a government agency.

Mitsubishi, Denka Form Fullerenes JV

Chemical maker Denka Co. has agreed to by a 50% stake of Mitsubishi Chemical’s Frontier Carbon Corp., forming a joint venture aimed at expanding production and sales of fullerene nanoparticles.

Profits Down for SK Enmove, S-Oil

The base oil and finished lubricant businesses of SK Enmove and S-Oil both reported declines in profits for the quarter ending March 31, while joint venture Hyundai Shell Base Oil posted a small increase in profit.
